November 2024 was another impactful month for the Fightstrong Foundation, a time defined by meaningful connections, educational opportunities, and heartfelt preparation for the upcoming season of giving. This month, we had the privilege of meeting incredible families whose strength and stories remind us of the importance of our mission. From extending a helping hand to those in need to sharing knowledge and personal experiences with future medical professionals, the Foundation continued to make a lasting impact. As we turned our focus toward the holidays, our efforts to bring joy and comfort to families battling cancer took center stage, reflecting the spirit of giving that fuels everything we do.
Supporting Families
We were honored to help three families this month. Each family’s story is unique and filled with resilience. Read their inspiring stories below.
Meet Donna, a woman whose journey through breast cancer has been defined by her unwavering faith and positivity. As a devoted mom, wife, and friend, Donna finds strength in her relationship with God, viewing her challenges as opportunities for growth and deeper connection. Her message is clear: “Your biggest struggles can be your biggest blessings,” and she encourages others to trust in God, embrace life’s lessons, and find joy in simple moments. Donna inspires those around her with her contagious gratitude and love for life, from cherishing her family to enjoying the beauty of nature. The Fightstrong Foundation was honored to support Donna with cold capping treatments and a gift card to Whole Foods, aiding her recovery and family’s needs. Through her faith and resilience, Donna continues to embody hope and courage, sharing the powerful reminder that no one walks alone.
Meet Melissa, a devoted mother who recently began her journey battling Stage 1 Triple Positive Breast Cancer. While on vacation, Melissa trusted her instincts after discovering a lump, leading to an early diagnosis. Although she didn’t seek assistance, we were honored to support her with a $750 gift card to Eat Clean Bro, gift cards to Louca’s, and Aqua Spa to aid her healing process. Melissa’s strength is a reminder to know your body, trust your instincts, and follow up when something feels off.
Family 3 Story Coming Soon...
Speaking at Princeton University
Through the Rutgers Cancer Institute of NJ and Joseph’s doctors, Joseph had the incredible opportunity to speak to an oncology class at Princeton University. He shared his personal story, the mission and work of the Fightstrong Foundation, and how his family navigated the challenges of his diagnosis and treatment journey. The experience allowed him to connect with future medical professionals and answer thoughtful questions about the patient and family perspective in battling cancer.
Christmas Preparations Begin
We’ve officially connected with the social workers of Rutgers Cancer Institute of NJ and the pediatric oncology unit of Robert Wood Johnson Children’s Specialized Hospital to gather wish lists for 10 families for our annual Christmas donation. Shopping is already underway, and we are so excited to bring these families some joy and comfort during the holiday season.
We can’t wait to share the results of this year’s Christmas donation with these deserving families on December 23rd. It’s truly one of our favorite parts of the year, and we’re grateful to everyone who supports our mission to make it happen.
