In the true spirit of the holiday season, Fightstrong Foundation embarked on a special mission on December 29th, bringing joy and support to four deserving patients from the pediatric unit at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. This heartwarming initiative, spearheaded by our collaboration with the hospital's dedicated social worker, aimed to make a tangible difference in the lives of those facing significant challenges.

Partnering with the social worker, we handpicked four individuals in need, each with unique circumstances, and asked them to share their wish lists. Our goal was to fulfill these wishes and provide a source of comfort and joy during their cancer journey.

Tyjanae (19) and Nyejah (17): A Helping Hand for Hardworking Sisters

Our first recipients were Tyjanae and Nyejah, two remarkable sisters aged 19 and 17, who have been facing adversity with resilience. Living in a hotel, the family struggles to make ends meet. Despite undergoing treatments during the week, both sisters dedicate their weekends to work, supporting their mother in meeting the financial demands. In response to their wish lists, we donated clothing, shoes, essential sleeping necessities, and gift cards to Uber and Wegmans, offering some relief during this challenging time.

Sameed (17): Turning a New Apartment into a Home

Next on our list was Sameed, a 17-year-old who recently moved into a new apartment. Recognizing the family's need for clothes and furniture, we fulfilled Sameed's wishes by donating Beats, clothes, shoes, and a 55' Samsung TV. Our aim was not only to provide essential items but also to contribute to creating a warm and enjoyable environment for the entire family.

Braylon (15): A Cozy New Space for a Brave Teen

Our final recipient, Braylon, is a brave 15-year-old who recently moved into a townhouse. Braylon's wish for a bed became a reality as we donated a queen bed, a nightstand, and a dresser with a mirror. In addition, we provided him with a desk and chair, enhancing his new space and offering a supportive environment for his journey.

Giving back to the patients of the pediatric unit holds a profound impact on Fightstrong Foundation, especially for our founder, Joseph Nigro, whose life was saved by the support of this very community. Joseph's personal experience with cancer fuels our commitment to making a difference in the lives of those battling this formidable foe.

As an organization that holds Christmas close to its heart, we understand the financial struggles families may face during this time of year. This donation reflects our unwavering dedication to spreading joy, especially during the holiday season, and providing tangible support to those who need it the most.

In the tapestry of kindness and resilience, Fightstrong Foundation continues to weave threads of hope and compassion. Our recent donation is not just a collection of items; it's a gesture of love and solidarity, reminding these brave individuals that they are not alone on their journey. Together, we stand strong, making spirits bright and fostering a sense of community that transcends the challenges of cancer.
