Meet Heather Holcli, a 35-year-old woman, recently faced a diagnosis of HER2+ breast cancer. Her journey began after noticing changes in her left breast just after Christmas — it had become larger and harder than usual. Heather decided to address her concerns during her annual gynecologist appointment at the end of January, initially not thinking much of it.

During her appointment, Heather sensed something was wrong when her doctor examined her. She was scheduled for a mammogram and ultrasound the next day, and upon further examination, a biopsy was recommended due to suspicious findings. After a week filled with anxiety, the dreaded phone call confirmed Heather's fears — she had cancer.

The news shook Heather's world, especially with two young children aged 8 and 2 at home. Her mind raced with questions about her future and her ability to care for her kids. However, Heather knew she had to fight. After consultations with a breast surgeon and oncologist, it was decided that she would undergo chemotherapy to shrink the tumor before surgery. Heather started chemotherapy on March 13th, with eight rounds scheduled until July.

In the midst of this emotional whirlwind, Fightstrong Foundation reached out to Heather, extending support in various forms. Recognizing her struggle with hair loss due to treatment, we provided Heather with a brand-new wig, care accessories, and a ShopRite gift card for her essential needs. Our aim was to ease some of the burdens she faced during this challenging time and show solidarity in her fight against cancer.

As Heather progresses through her treatment, she finds strength in her family and children, who motivate her to stay positive and resilient. At her recent examination, there was a significant decrease in the tumor size, indicating progress in her fight against cancer. With determination and support, Heather continues to navigate this challenging journey, focusing on staying strong and hopeful for the future.

Heather, continue to fight and never give up. We love you and we are constantly praying for your full recovery!
