Evelyn

Meet Evelyn, a true warrior whose journey through cancer is one of immense strength and unwavering hope. In April 2021, Evelyn noticed an alarming lump in her right breast that prompted her to seek medical attention. With remarkable speed, she was scheduled for a mammogram, ultrasound, and biopsy. The diagnosis was devastating: breast cancer. In May, she began her treatment journey, which included aggressive chemotherapy, surgery, and 20 rounds of radiation. Despite the challenges and side effects, Evelyn faced each treatment with incredible determination and resilience. After months of fighting, she received the life-changing news that she was cancer-free, celebrating 20 months of remission.

However, Evelyn's relief was short-lived. One night, she discovered a lump in her neck, which led to another visit to her oncologist. Further scans and tests revealed that her cancer had returned, now affecting her lymph nodes. This news marked the most terrifying moment of her life, leaving her with many questions and fears. As a devoted mother of two, Evelyn felt an overwhelming need to be there for her children, Fabian and Camila, who rely on her.

"I believe in medicine, miracles, and, most importantly, God," she says. Evelyn's unwavering faith and love for her children fuel her strength as she navigates this challenging path. In the face of adversity, she remains committed to her family and holds on to hope for a brighter future.

To help create joyful memories for her family amidst these hardships, the Fightstrong Foundation was honored to fulfill one of Evelyn's heartfelt wishes. We donated a full weekend getaway to Kalahari Resort in the Poconos, allowing the family to bond, laugh, and celebrate her children's birthdays. This experience not only provided a much-needed escape but also reinforced the importance of family, love, and the support of a community rallying around those who face the trials of cancer. Evelyn's story is a powerful reminder of resilience, hope, and the unwavering spirit of motherhood.

Evelyn, we love you and will continue to pray for you!
